Kai with Mana. Mahi with Meaning.

Kai Connect is more than a food initiative.
It’s a movement—driven by hunters, gatherers, and everyday whānau who believe in feeding people with dignity, preserving the whenua, and passing on legacy through action.
We hunt. We gather. We give.

The gift of meat carries more than nourishment. It carries mana, connection, and the quiet message: you matter.

This isn’t charity. It’s community, walking together.

Meet the kai connect crew

Jina

Jina runs her own pest control business during the week—chasing deer, managing land, and getting stuck into the hard stuff. You’d think she’d be over it by the weekend. But not Jina.
She still rolls up her sleeves, joins the crew, and delivers the goods.
No fuss. No drama. Just impact.
She’s a quiet, no-nonsense crack shot who gets on with the mahi.
Doesn’t need the spotlight—just the hills, the hunt, and the purpose behind it.

Alex

Young dad. Bob the Builder during the week. Master hunter when we can grab him.

Alex’s a crack shot with a quiet grin—steady on the hills, sharp behind the scope, and always good for a laugh.
He funds himself, gives freely, and shows up with heart when it counts.

Builder by trade, hunter by instinct, whānau-first always

Mat

Young dad. 2IC at the local Hunt Fish shop during the week. Crack shot for us when we can grab him.

Mat’s sharp behind the counter and even sharper behind the scope.
He knows his gear, knows the hills, and knows how to get the job done.
He gives up his own time, funds himself, and shows up with quiet confidence and a grin.

Retail pro by day, hunter by instinct, whānau-first always

Sam

Sam started dropping off venison to Rob and Lisa when he was still at school—young, keen, and already carrying the heart of the kaupapa.

Now a full-time shepherd, he still finds time to join us on hunts.
He’s quiet, loyal, and always ready to roll.
Quick to lend a hand, quick to make us laugh—and a crack shot when it counts.

Sam doesn’t chase attention. He just shows up, gets stuck in, and brings the kind of energy that reminds us why we do this.

We’re a Family Affair

Sometimes our weekends aren’t just about hunting and gathering. They’re about giving families time together—outside, on the hills, enjoying the challenge and the joy of finding animals to hunt.

They laugh, learn, and walk the whenua with us.
Because this kaupapa isn’t just about the hunt—it’s about giving whānau the chance to reconnect with nature, with each other, and with the values that matter.

Trying to keep a bunch of kids quiet while stalking deer is no mean feat—and that’s the beauty of it.
Everyone’s part of the mahi. Everyone belongs.

Hunt to Live

Hunt to Give

Hunt to Preserve

Looking for more blocks to hunt.

Food bank demand is growing, and we’re doing what we can to keep up.
We’re serious hunters.

We respect the land, the animals, and the privilege of access.

Every deer we take goes straight to whānau who need it.

We’re always on the lookout for more blocks.

No drama. No waste. Just clean, respectful hunting with purpose.
If you’ve got land and you’re open to a kōrero, we’d love to connect.
